project description:

Help a W.O.R.Ks Care Receiver restore floor to original hardwood.

about this mission:

The W.O.R.K.s ministry (Widows and orphans receiving kindness) is designed to serve widows and single mom's in the church, not only with household repairs and maintenance, but with prayer and fellowship.

Teams meet the 3rd Saturday of each month.

The men are divided into teams of 3 or 4 and are assigned a widow, a single mom or other person in distress in the church. Each team chooses a “leader” who is responsible for contacting their widow or single mom the week before they are to meet and find out what projects need to be done. The leader then contacts the other members of the team, reminds them of the meeting on Saturday and tells them what tools and material to bring.

From 7:00 to 8:00am, all the teams meet together for prayer, Bible study, testimonies, good natured ribbing and last minute planning.  Then at 8:00am the men split up into their teams and go out and work in the homes of their adopted person until 10:30am. Each month, the team returns to the same widow or single mom. At the end of their visit, each team reads scripture, prays for the widow or single mom, and prays for other widows and single moms on the block. This is a relationship ministry. A relationship develops between the team and the care receiver. Relationship develops between the team members themselves.
